Ben Kelly is a lecturer in the Department of Celtic Studies at Aberystwyth University in Wales. He is from Roscommon in Ireland and is proud to be a member of the group Misneach(d). He graduated with a PhD from the University of Edinburgh last year, with a dissertation on the impact of the 2008 crisis on the Irish Gaeltacht.
In this talk, Ben outlines one or two challenges facing Irish, and many other minority languages – including Scottish Gaelic. There is also a link to the issue of the environment, looking at minority language speakers who have challenges and hopes around the world.
